HomeAware can detect activity on your WiFi network and off it. Read below for tips and tricks to connect HomeAware with your unique home network configuration!

Multiband Network

Description HomeAware recommendation
I have a home network with 1 WiFi router that has a 2.4ghz and 5ghz network to connect to. Use the same Network Name (SSID) and password for both bands.

Additional info:

When setting up your network, use the same information for both your 2.4 and 5ghz network options:

Network Name = Casa de Internet Rapido Password = 1234567890

When you look for a network you’ll see both on your phone, and once both are connected to for the first time your phone should automatically connect to whichever has the stronger signal. |

Mesh/Nest Network

Description HomeAware recommendation
I have a home network with a modem and my mesh network components. Complete the normal sensor set up.

Additional info:

Most Mesh networks behave like a conventional single Wireless router home network. |

Multiple Wireless Router Network

Description HomeAware recommendation
I have a home with multiple wireless routers. These different routers either have networks with the same name, or different names. Connect HomeAware sensor to your primary network. Even though you’ll only get on-network presence info from one wireless router, there wont be any change to off network and passive alerts.

Additional info:

Setting the same network name and password on multiple typical-routers doesn't enable communication like in a mesh/nest. Mobile devices will view them as distinct networks. Unlike a single router, multiband router, or mesh network, this setup treats each router as an isolated network. |

Guest and Private Home Network

Description HomeAware recommendation
I have a home network with 1 WiFi router that has a guest network, and a secure home network to connect to. Connect your HomeAware Sensor to the network that you want to collect on network presence info from.

We recommend connecting to your primary (and password protected) home network.

Additional info:

In this recommendation, on network presence info will only be collected from your main network, not the guest network. Good news though, you’ll still continue to get off network and passive alerts! |
